When I was diagnosed with IBS, my doctor handed me three pieces of paper and told me to start the low FODMAP diet.

By this point in my life, I would have pulled out my own eyeballs if I thought it could have eased my IBS symptoms, so the low FODMAP program felt like the magic bullet that would turn my life around!

But the pamphlet was just a rundown of the FODMAP acronym and a list of foods to avoid.

I felt like the answer I needed was literally in my hands, but I didn’t know how to make it work. I couldn’t even figure out how I was supposed to start, or what I was supposed to eat, or how, exactly living on rice cakes was going to help control my symptoms.

Eventually, I did figure out how to start (and complete) the low FODMAP program and my entire life changed!

I went from being housebound and in chronic pain to running a marathon in under a year! The low FODMAP diet has absolutely given me my life back and it’s a story I’ve heard over and over as more people are introduced to the program.

I can still remember exactly how it felt to launch my low FODMAP diet. But now that I’ve come out on the other side, I know it doesn’t have to be that way for you!
